Teresa, anda cá fora. O vento é bom e a luz é ótima. Olha para isto.

Teresa, come outside. The wind is good and the light is great. Look at this.

Mas eu tenho frio. Eu gosto, é bonito. Estou a ver-te.

But I'm cold. I like it, it's beautiful. I can see you.

Por causa do vidro não vês nada. Vês por este, que é o único que é de vidro. São todos…

Because of the glass you can't see anything. You see through this one, which is the only one that is glass. They're all…

I used to say that the role of an artist could be seen as that of a person who switches the lighthouse on and off. It is not the lighthouse, nor the light in the darkness, but the person who switches on and off a lighthouse that may already be known.

The sea is also the infinite, the gaze into the infinite, and so the total acceptance of the dream, in the sense that you can stay looking at the sea, imagining or even remembering whatever you like. And in that sense, perhaps one can also speak of saudade.

Pedro Ayres Magalhães: Our saudosismo is a saudosismo of contrasts. It is no accident that the first song I wrote for this group was called 'Sombra'. Sombra, shadow, in Portuguese, also contains within it the idea of light. And shadow is a word that evokes at the same time, as if it were the trace of light, that is, you do not speak of shadow without conceiving of light.
