À l'instar de son illustre successeur, le Queen Elizabeth II arbore la cheminée noire et rouge, emblème de la qualité Cunard. Il est le seul transatlantique toujours en service à avoir servi de modèle au Queen Mary 2.
This is the model of the Queen Elizabeth II with the funnel and the very characteristic wind scoop. And you can see from our funnel where the scoop is much higher on the new Queen Mary 2.
And that's because we just don't have the height. We have to get under a bridge in New York called the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. QE2 has 12 meters clearance to get under the bridge. We, with this funnel, as it is at that height, will only have 2 meters. And that's the absolute limit that we're allowed.
And we achieve that by optimizing the shape of this scoop. And when you compare it to the QE2 scoop, you can see that the scoop is actually much higher. And this forces the wind up into the scoop and then up, mingling with the smoke so that the smoke will disperse before it has a chance to fall back down onto the deck.
Ok, je suis là.
Bits of plasticine in the sides. Pressing it. But you can see the way it's catching the wind, forcing it up. It's working fine.
